Vinho Verde and Albariño Along the Way

Few walks pass through two celebrated wine regions in a single week. The Portuguese Camino does.

    Vinho Verde

Northern Portugal's Vinho Verde region produces fresh, light wines — often with a gentle spritz — that pair perfectly with grilled fish. The Alvarinho grape thrives near the Minho River.

    Rías Baixas Albariño

Across the river in Galicia, the same grape is called Albariño. The Rías Baixas DO produces aromatic, mineral whites, ideal with Galician seafood.
