Blister Prevention and Foot Care on the Camino

Happy feet make a happy pilgrim. A little preparation prevents most problems.

    Before you go

    • Break in your walking shoes over several weeks
    • Choose shoes half a size larger to allow for swelling
    • Test your socks on long walks — merino or technical blends work well

    On the trail

Stop at the first sign of a hot spot and cover it. Cobblestones in historic towns are harder than boardwalks, so adjust your pace. And remember: with car assistance, resting a sore foot never means falling behind.
